Castle Oliver is a sprawling gothic mansion with 15 acres of beautiful grounds, surrounded by thousands of acres of unspoilt Irish countryside. Set in the Ballyhoura Mountains, the Castle is roughly halfway between Limerick and Cork cities with both Shannon and Cork airports about 1 hours drive away.

The Castle was built in the late 1840's by Elizabeth and Mary Oliver-Gascoigne, sisters who inherited vast wealth at a young age. Their monogrammed initials OG appear all over the building, both inside and out. The Castle has Ireland's largest wine cellar with a capacity for 50,000 bottles. In 1852 Elizabeth married and became Baroness Ashtown. She and her husband lived at Castle Oliver for much of their time.

Artistic and musical the sisters were actively involved in the design and decoration of the interiors. They made stained glass windows, many of them hand painted; one of which graces the wall of the grand staircase and back painted glass panels, one of which adorns the over mantel of the ballroom.

Accommodation: The ground floor comprises of Library, Billiard Room, Drawing Room, Ballroom, Dining room and Kitchen. All of which have restored original flooring. Upstairs there are eleven bedrooms of which eight are ensuite. There is antique furniture and lighting throughout the castle and the luxurious suites all have 6ft. four-poster beds and period bath tubs.

Castle Oliver is ideally located for day trips to: Killarney & Muckross House; Cork City & Blarney Castle; Bunratty Castle, Folk Park & Dirty Nellie's Pub; Limerick City & Adare Village; The Cliffs of Moher, Aillwee Caves & The Lakes of Killaloe; The Rock of Cashel, Chair Castle & Mitchlestown Caves; Lismore & Waterford Crystal; Cobh, Foto House & Middleton Distillery.

Fishing on the Blackwater River (known as "The Irish Rhine") is 30 min away. Adare Championship Golf Course is a 35 min drive.

Castle Oliver is the ideal location for an intimate family gathering / wedding with a function capacity of 120. The 15 acres of gardens and wooded walks lends themselves to picturesque wedding photos.
